ABOUT CAT
ACCA’s Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) qualification provides a framework for the
development of young, new recruits and for the recognition of older, experienced accounting
support staff. ACCA introduced the CAT qualification in response to the strong market demand
for a qualification that recognises experience but is also examination based.
The qualification aims to provide:
The opportunity for those working in an accounting support role to obtain an endorsement
of their skills and knowledge.
Those wishing to progress to a professional qualification with a firm foundation for their
future studies.
STUDENT REGISTRATION
To register as a CAT student, applicants must normally be over 16 years of age. Those without
formal qualifications are expected to complete all three levels of the examinations. Some
qualifications entitle holders to claim exemption from some or all of the papers. To qualify as
ACCA Certified Accounting Technicians, students must pass the examinations and meet ACCA’s
competence requirements.
